
Who Is Wendell Alexander?
Wendell Alexander is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) master and co-founder of Nova União, one of the world’s most influential BJJ and MMA academies, established in 1995 alongside André “Dedé” Pederneiras in Rio de Janeiro.
Alexander began training under Master Geraldo Flores (from the Oswaldo Fadda lineage) as a child, progressing through the early belts before completing his brown and black belt under Sebastião Ricardo, earning his black belt at age 20 in 1986.
Known as an “unsung hero” of BJJ, he has dedicated his career to coaching and graduating elite black belts, including Leonardo Santos (youngest World BJJ Champion), Rodrigo “Riscado,” Bruno Bastos, and MMA standouts like Wagnney Fabiano and Vítor
