Adam Wardzinski Wins 2nd World Title & Retires
For the second straight year, butterfly guard master Adam Wardzinski was able to take home gold at Worlds. Wardzinski then shocked the audience by putting his belt on the mat as a symbol of his retirement.
The Polish grappler kissed the mat and celebrated with his Checkmat teammates as the crowd roared in approval.
After nine years of coming up short, Adam was able to win two straight titles and retire on top. It was a storybook ending for the greatest European BJJ athlete in history.
“After 9 years of upsets, heartbreaking losses, and coming up short, I broke the curse of the pyramid, not once, but twice. Thank you for being with me on that journey!.”- Adam Wardzinski.
Adam leaves as the all-time winningest European BJJ athlete, who won every major IBJJF title and was a pioneer in the sport.
The Polish legend earned every accolade he won through hard work and dedication. He will no doubt be a future IBJJF Hall of Famer.
