Bird Wiltse asks the BJJ community for help

One of the unfortunate collateral damage victims of Andrew Wiltse’s manic episode is his brother, Bird Wiltse. Bird has recently opened a GoFundMe page asking for help rebounding from a bad financial situation.

Read the details on Birds’s situation below.

Bird Wiltse Asks For Help

Bird Wiltse recently opened his own GoFundMe page and explained his financial situation. Read the post from his GoFundMe below.w

“2 years ago Andrew had a severe manic episode. During which time Andrew went on a $120,000 spending spree and took out loans using the paid-off car and house as collateral . Jump to now, we were almost debt-free again, I got extra jobs along with continuing to try to work with Andrew to pay off the debt left while paying expenses.

Unfortunately, with his BPD, work was difficult because the high highs came with equally low lows. With the recent episode, I’ve moved away and started a new life and a new career (I still do jiujitsu, but not nearly as much).”

Bird Being Financially Tied to Andrew

Bird continued to explain that he wants to free himself financially from his brother Andrew. However, because Andrew is getting psychiatric treatment, Wiltse doesn’t have the finances to do so.

“Unfortunately, even after 2 years, I’m still financially tied to him. For the health of everyone involved, this needs to no longer be the case.I need to be free to move on and live my life independently without reaping the consequences of Andrew’s choices as he goes on living his life.

I cannot sell the house without a lawyer to clear my name, which I currently cannot afford. I cannot get him to refinance the mortgage in only his name (even though it’s 85% paid off).

Normally it wouldn’t be a big deal, but now Andrew is getting treatment and none of his side of the bills are possible to be paid until he’s released, which might take a while.

Hopefully, when he comes out, he’ll be better, but between the mental abuse and having to pick up after him for this long, I need help.”

Help Bird Out

Dealing with the mental health of a family member can take a mental and financial toll. Bird is a good guy, and it sucks to see what he’s going through.
