Eddie Bravo”s Injuries
Eddie Bravo recently made an appearance on the Grappler’s Perspective podcast to talk about his 10th Planet team going into the upcoming CJI 2 team tournament this week.
After talking about his team and his combat Jiu-Jitsu events, the hosts asked Eddie about his health and if he still gets on the mat and rolls.
Unfortunately for Eddie Bravo, he is predominantly just teaching now due to various nagging injuries. Decades of training have taken a toll on Eddie’s neck and back.
He is currently trying to rehab a shoulder injury right after having back surgery. Sadly, Eddie feels that his days of rolling are coming to an end.
“I got some nagging injuries. I’m 55 years old and I’m almost done rolling. I’ve been trying to rehab my shoulder, but I re-injured my shoulder again.
I had back surgery, like seven years ago, and they’re telling me I need another back surgery. I’m a mess, but I’m teaching more passionately than ever, but it’s just hard to roll.
Every time I come back, I just keep getting hurt.”- Eddie Bravo.
It’s unfortunate to hear this news about Eddie nearing the end of his time rolling. Grappling is hard on the body, and nobody can train for decades without having physical problems.
That is why it’s important to alter your game as you get older to stay on the mat. Eddie may be nearing the end of rolling, but he will never stop being on the mat to teach the next generation and keep improving his technique.
