Khamzat Chimaev Earns BJJ Black Belt
For years, Khamzat Chimaev laid a path of destruction to get a UFC title shot, “smeshing” everyone in his way. Last night was no different as he put on a suffocating grappling performance against the champ Driscus Du Plessis.
For an astounding 21 minutes and 40 seconds, Chimaev had the champ on the ground dominating from every position. He broke the UFC record with over 500 ground strikes during the fight and put Du Plessis in multiple crucifixes.
When the final bell rang, it was needless to say that Khamzat Chimaev was the new UFC middleweight champion of the world.
He not only won the UFC Title, but was also given his BJJ black belt by his coach. This was only a short time removed from receiving his brown belt after his 1st round submission win against former champion Robert Whitaker.
From what we saw at UFC 319, there are no middleweights that measure up to the newly crowned champion. It’s going to be incredibly tough to take Chimaev off his throne.

Bobby is martial artist for almost 20 years with a BJJ black belt under Professor Sergio Miranda. He is also a karate black and former combat sports athlete, who loves all things grappling.
