After years of waiting, we finally have a date for the murder trial of the police officer who killed the beloved Leandro Lo.

Leandro Lo Murder Trial Date Set
The trial of police lieutenant Henrique Otávio Oliveira Velozo has been set for May 10th, 2025. In 2022, Velozo shot and killed the beloved BJJ champion Leandro Lo in cold blood in a São Paulo nightclub.
The killing occurred after Lo prevented Velozo from stealing a bottle from his private table. In retaliation, Velozo took out his gun and shot Leandro.
After years of delays, the case will finally proceed thanks to Lo’s friends and family’s efforts in fighting for justice. The trial will start on May 22nd at 10 AM.
Velozo is currently being held in Romão Gomes Military Prison in São Paulo. Originally, his salary was being withheld but a judge reversed this order decreeing this violated his presumption of innocence.
