Leandro Lo’s Killer Found Not Guilty
To the shock of nobody familiar with the Brazilian justice system, Leandro Lo’s killer(Military Police Officer Henrique Otavio Oliveira Velozo) was found not Guilty by a São Paulo jury on Friday, November 14th, 2025.
Family and friends of Leandro Lo have been waiting three long years for justice and will not receive it. The jury accepted the defense’s self-defense stance as a justification for killing Lo.
The BJJ community is in disbelief after hearing this awful news. Leandro Lo’s killer was on camera killing the BJJ champion in cold blood, yet somehow walks away clean.
It’s heartbreaking to see Lo’s family not get justice, as injustice is a common occurrence in Brazil. We will always remember Leandro Lo as a legend, who elevated the martial art, and Velozo will always be remembered as a cold-blooded killer.
