Mark Zuckerberg has become quite a mat rat. Zuck has been on the mat training when he is not running his empire.

This weekend, Zuckerberg finally took the plunge and competed in his first BJJ tourney. His debut was quite a success as he took home a gold and silver in two divisions.

Reactions to Zuck’s Debut

Every top personality in the Jiu-Jitsu community took the time to congratulate Mark on a successful first competition. On his Instagram post, Zuckerberg took the time to shout out to his school, Guerilla Jiu-Jitsu Team.

His team consists of highly respected BJJ coach Dave Camarillo along with Kai Wu, and James Terry

What’s Next for Mark Zuckerberg?

Zuckerberg has caught the Jiu-Jitsu bug. He is very passionate about his training and wants to become the best grappler possible.

Under the guidance of Dave Camarillo, Mark is definitely in good hands. But it’s definitely going to be weird for his future opponents when they see they get matched up with Zuck.

Jiu Jitsu is for Everyone

Some may scoff and say who cares that Mark Zuckerberg trains and competes, but they’re missing something important here. The fact that the founder of Facebook is now a Jiu-Jitsu practitioner shows that BJJ really is for everyone.

On the mat, your social status does not matter. It’s a place where you’ll see everyone from engineers, janitors, students, retail workers, and even a billionaire tech ceo. Training together, helping each other get better, and become good friends.

Seeing Zuck being committed to training shows the global reach of BJJ. This is great publicity for our martial art and will help it continue to grow.
