Judy Norton(Richard’s wife) broke the sad news that her beloved husband Richard Norton passed away on Sunday, March 30th. The Australian martial arts pioneer was a trailblazer for the spread of various martial arts across Australia and the world.

Judy wrote: “I am beyond devastated, I have no words, I have lost everything. I know there is and will be lots of love and shock that we have lost this incredible human being. The love ❤️ of my life. I’m using this time to come to terms with my great loss.”- Judy Norton.

From an early age, Richard was passionate about martial arts training. He started his lifelong journey of learning martial arts when he took up judo at age 11. 

Norton then moved on to Goju-Ryu karate and earned his black belt at seventeen. Through his training, Richard became a security for various high-profile musicians and actors.

This connection to the entertainment business allowed Norton to get his first break in acting. He co-starred in various action and Kung Fu films throughout the decades, 

Norton worked with various action legends such as Chuck Norris, Jackie Chan, and Sammi Hung. Through Chuck Norris, Richard met Jean Jacques Machado and became one of his early students.

Norton worked his way up to becoming a sixth-degree black belt during his life. 

Richard Norton was an incredibly influential and beloved figure in the martial arts world. He left a profound impact on the world and will be missed.
