Mia Funegra Becomes Youngest World Champion

Mia Funegra

After just 72 hours removed from her black belt promotion, Mia Funegra has made history. This past weekend, Funegra became the youngest IBJJF world champion in history.

The young AOJ star broke the previous record held by The Ruotolo. Funegra’s record now stands at 18 years and 193 days.

Her twin sister, Ashlee Funegra, also won the world championship at brown belt and was promoted on the podium. Their younger sister Natalee also won the juvenile 2 blue belt world title. They were part of a dominant showing over the weekend by the Mendes Brothers’ star-packed squad.

The twins started training a little over a decade ago and are now world champions. Expect to hear more from these talented twins in the coming years.
