Shahana Hajiyeva Banned For Faking Blindness
Former Paralympic gold medalist Shahana Hajiyeva finds herself in one of the biggest controversies so far this year. Paralympic judo has banned the former champion for faking blindness.
This shocking news came to light as the organization recently changed its guidelines for several eye conditions. They also reduced the number of categories for their athletes from three to just two.
The Azerbaijan National Paralympic Committee tried to run cover for their athlete and explain why Hajiyeva was removed from competing.
However, an eye test before the upcoming world championship revealed that she wasn’t blind at all. After this assessment, Shahana Hajiyeva was promptly banned from competing.
