Prosecutor Requests Leandro Lo’s Killer Be Moved To Regular Prison
After years of stalling, we finally may have some good news in the case of Leandro Lo’s killer. Following the dismissal of Lieutenant Henrique Otávio Oliveira Velozo from the São Paulo Military Police, the Public Prosecutor’s Office issued a statement requesting the defendant’s immediate transfer to a regular prison.
In the document, the Public Prosecutor’s Office emphasizes that:
• The crime was not a military offense, but rather aggravated homicide during off-duty time;
• The Romão Gomes Military Prison should only be used for prisoners who still hold military status, which is no longer the case;
• The governor’s decision is self-executing, with the loss of rank and pay;
• Society has the right to see criminals punished and state officials dismissed when police officers commit crimes.
Now, the process continues for the courts to decide on Velozo’s transfer to the regular prison system.
Leandro Lo continues to be remembered as one of the greatest athletes in the history of Jiu-Jitsu, and the community closely follows every step in the quest for justice.
