Rafael Lovato Jr Makes History
This past weekend, BJJ great Rafael Lovato Jr. made history by becoming the first athlete in history to win every major IBJJF gi and No-Gi world title.
The 42-year-old was the first athlete to win the Gi grand slam in 2007 and later won three No-Gi world titles. Coming into this year, Lovato Jr. was only two titles away from completing the No-Gi grand slam.
He won the European No-Gi title earlier this year and just completed the No-Gi grand slam by winning the No-Gi Brasileiro(Brazilian Nationals).
As of now, Lovato Jr is the only BJJ athlete in history to complete both IBJJF grand slams. Rafael was already one of the most decorated athletes in history, and this title was another feather in his cap.
Congratulations to Rafael Lovato Jr. on an incredible career.

Bobby is martial artist for almost 20 years with a BJJ black belt under Professor Sergio Miranda. He is also a karate black and former combat sports athlete, who loves all things grappling.
