Tayane Porfírio shocked the world by knocking off reigning P4P women’s athlete Gabi Pessanha to win gold at the 2025 Brasileiro.

Tayane Porfírio Wins the 2025 Brasileiro
The 2025 Brasileiro(Brazilian Nationals) wrapped up this past weekend with some incredible action. Arguably, the best moment happened on the last day.
In the finals of the women’s super-heavy division, Tayane Porfírio faced off against reigning BJJ queen Gabi Pessanha.
For the past few years, Pessanha has been unbeatable. She’s won double gold at every major IBJJF event since 2022.
Coming into this year’s Brasileiro, Gabi was on a +150 win streak. She had already beaten Tayane a week prior at BJJ Stars 15 and submitted her the day prior.
Everyone was expecting the same result in the division finals, but Porfírio had different plans.
During their match, Tayane was able to hit an early takedown and score another two points. She was able to weather Pessanha’s pressure late in the match and defend her back.
As time expired, the crowd in São Paulo exploded in cheers. Porfírio finally beat the queen with the 2025 Brasileiro.
