Amanda Mazza Breaks Own Arm Attempting RNC
In one of the wildest moments that we’ve seen in some time, grappler Amanda Mazza broke her own arm attempting an RNC at Cage Fury 15 last weekend.
It looked like Mazza was going to cruise to a win as she took her opponent’s back and began locking in the choke. Then, out of nowhere, both she and her opponent heard a startling pop sound and stopped.
Amanda let go of the choke and both competitors didn’t know who was hurt. Then, Mazza began holding her arm and screaming in pain.
The commentators and spectators had no idea what happened until they watched the replay. Apparently as Amanda applied the choke over her opponent’s chin, she was using so much force that she fractured her own forearm.
After the match, Amanda made this post: “Sometimes, the sport gives you victories that you can’t manage on a scoreboard. I controlled the match and pushed myself to get the finish, but in the battle, my forearm broke with the torque of the choke against her chin.
It’s not the outcome I imagined. To say that I’m heartbroken is an understatement, but I’m so grateful for all the love and support and sweet messages. They’re truly lifting me higher.”- Amanda Mazza.
It was a rare freak accident, but hopefully we’ll see Amanda back on the mat soon.
